Every organization has a culture.
Some are intentional.
Many are accidental.
Culture is not built by mission statements.
It is built by the behaviours leaders consistently reinforce...
...ignore...
...and ultimately accept.
Culture rarely changes through one dramatic decision.
It changes through hundreds of small ones.
A late meeting.
An overlooked shortcut.
Inconsistent accountability.
Standards that depend on who is working.
None of these moments seem significant on their own.
Together, they become culture.
People don't learn culture by reading the employee handbook.
They learn it by watching leadership.
They notice:
What gets corrected.
What gets ignored.
Who gets recognized.
What behaviour quietly becomes acceptable.
Every leadership decision communicates a standard.
Most organizations believe culture is created by vision.
Or values.
Or communication.
Those matter.
But people believe what leaders consistently do far more than what they occasionally say.
Leadership is always teaching.
Even when it isn't speaking.
Exceptional cultures are rarely built through dramatic initiatives.
They are built through consistent leadership.
Standards remain standards.
Expectations remain clear.
Feedback is timely.
Accountability is consistent.
Small problems are addressed before they become accepted practices.
Culture isn't protected once a year.
It is protected every day.
Not by slogans.
Not by surveys.
Not by motivational speeches.
By the behaviours leaders consistently reinforce...
...and the behaviours they refuse to tolerate.
What behaviour is currently accepted inside your organization...
...that you would never intentionally teach?
Because what leaders tolerate today...
becomes tomorrow's culture.
